Planners initially refused our clients’ proposal for the full width, 5.0m deep extension they badly wanted. Both classical musicians and with eclectic tastes, they asked us to keep finishes simple and ensure control of the project costs while gaining the maximum space available for their growing family. Using Permitted Development rights and re-redesigning the roof to protect neighbour’s rights to light, we secured a lawful development for the full 5m extension for the couple and their two boys. A bright, practical family space and a transformation they had been told was not possible.
